Congratulations to all the teams that qualified for the 2013 World Finals at Michigan State University. State tournament scores are listed below.
There are several deadlines that have to be met in order to get to WF and to have everything you need once you get there. Please read and re-reread all the information that you received at the Coaches' Meeting. Everything in that packet is very important. Coaches you need to schedule a meeting with all parents in a day or two to get necessary paperwork handled. Much of that paperwork (medical forms, contract forms, etc.) will have to be taken to WF with you. Make sure you have it with you at registration when you arrive on campus.
World Finals t-shirts and pins must be ordered by email by April 20. Payment is due May 2. Email the forms to wpeters@sdale.org and follow all direction on the order forms. Please only send one order form for pin orders and one order form for t-shirt orders for each team. It is way too confusing and way too much work to allow individual orders. A Message from Our Director
I want to thank all the Board members, judges, team volunteers, and ASU personnel for making this State Odyssey of the Mind competition the best ever. It is because of all the hard work and planning that makes this event so successful. I want to especially thank all the children that participated on Saturday. All your hard work was evident in the great presentation of all the solutions to each problems. I want to especially express my appreciation for the overwhelming patience and respect shown by all the children at the awards ceremony. We have the greatest kids in the World. Good luck to all teams that advanced to World Finals.
Buddy Teams/Homestays
In your WF packet you should find information on Buddy Teams and Homestays. These are two separate programs and teams who may choose to do Homestays do not have to be WF teams. To be a Buddy Team your team must be attending World Finals. I would highly encourage your teams to do the Buddy Team at WF. You will be paired with a team from a foreign country. Most speak English, but some do not. An interpretor is available for those who speak little or no English. It is an experience that all teams at WF should experience. If you have any more questions about either of these programs you may email me at neal.pankey@att.net. My teams have been Buddy Teams before and I should be able to answer most of your questions. The Homestay Program is different. This program allows a team from a foreign country to travel to your hometown to spend a few days after WF. They would stay in your homes and you would be responsible for showing them around your area of the country and helping acquaint them with American hospitality. I can get you in touch with the appropriate people if you are interested.
